WhatsApp Tests New Animated Message Bubbles On IPhone

WhatsApp is marking the return of a feature, it is testing a new animation for message bubbles on iPhone, that was removed in an earlier update. WhatsApp’s latest iPhone beta update brings a new animation for messages available through Apple’s TestFlight program. According to WABetaInfo, the update introduces a redesigned animation effect that makes incoming and outgoing messages appear more smoothly within chats.

Instead of appearing instantly, message bubbles now fade in and slightly expand before settling into the chat. This change is designed to make chats feel smoother and more polished. WhatsApp is also adding an option to turn off message animations for users who prefer a simpler chat experience. This setting can be found under Settings  Chats Animations, where users can control different animation effects, including animated emojis, stickers, and GIFs. The feature was first spotted in the Android beta version and is now being tested on iPhone as well, which suggests it may soon be released on both platforms.

According to WABetaInfo, only a small number of beta testers can currently use the new animated message bubbles feature in WhatsApp. As with many WhatsApp beta features, it will likely be tested with more users before being released to everyone. WhatsApp has not yet said, when the feature will be available for all users. Since it is already being tested on both Android and iPhone it may arrive in a future update. The feature is part of WhatsApp's plan to make chats more attractive and give users more ways to personalize the app.
