Apple has increased the prices of its iPhones in India with the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air seeing some of the biggest price hikes. The iPhone 17 was originally launched in India at 82,900. And now, it is priced at 99,900 which is an increase of 17,000. This means the price has gone up by more than 20%. The iPhone 17 has reportedly been Apple's best selling model worldwide. According to Counterpoint, the entire iPhone 17 series has generated more than $170 billion in its first year of sales. Apple has also stopped selling the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. The company was expected to raise iPhone prices after its autumn launch, and it has now done so.
The iPhone Air has also become much more expensive. It was earlier available for 1,19,900 but its new price is 1,49,900. That is a 30,000 increase. The price changes came shortly after Apple announced its new iPhone 18 Pro series and its first foldable phone which is the iPhone Duo in September 9 at its "Surprise and Shine" event.
Apple's new CEO, John Ternus is now leading the company. The company is also expected to make changes to its iPhone lineup in the coming years. Some reports suggest that the regular iPhone 18 and the next version of the iPhone Air could arrive around the middle of 2027. Apple's price increase also comes at a time when several Android smartphone companies are raising prices because of rising memory costs. iPhones in India have also been more expensive than their US prices for several years. For Indian buyers, this latest price increase could make Apple's newer iPhones even more expensive especially for people planning to upgrade soon.
