GoHumanize, which is a US based AI company says that even though AI is changing many jobs some human skills will still be very important in the future. Skills like leadership, teamwork, negotiation, and emotional intelligence are not likely to be replaced by AI in the next 10 years. The report says that around 25 percent of jobs may be replaced by AI automation in the next 10 years. Even though AI can now do things like coding, analyzing data, and creating content, it still finds it hard to understand human emotions, make careful decisions, build trust, and handle situations that need human judgement.
Here are 8 human skills that could remain valuable even in an AI dominated work place
- Emotional Intelligence : AI can study data and copy conversations but it cannot truly understand human feelings like people do. That is why skills like empathy, solving problems peacefully, and understanding emotions will always be important in jobs like leadership, healthcare, counselling, teaching, and customer service.
- Critical Thinking : AI can give answers using patterns and old information, but humans are still important for thinking deeply and understanding difficult situations plus making careful decisions. Critical thinking is very important in jobs like law, journalism, public policy, and research, where good judgment matters as much as knowledge.
- Communication Skills : As more work becomes automated, good communication skills will become even more important. People still need to explain ideas clearly, work with teams, negotiate, and convince others.
- Leadership : Leadership is the very important future safe skill. Employers gave leadership a very high importance score of 95 out of 100 and AI still finds it very hard to copy real leadership. While AI may handle some leadership tasks, it cannot easily inspire people, solve conflicts, motivate teams, or make smart decisions in difficult situations. These qualities still depend mostly on humans. Jobs like CEO, school principals, military officers, and senior executives still need strong people skills and human interaction, which AI cannot easily replace.
- Collaboration and teamwork : Collaboration and teamwork was found almost as an important skill showing how much companies value it across different industries. The study also explained that good teamwork is not just about finishing tasks together. It involves understanding people’s feelings, adjusting to different communication styles, handling different personalities, and building trust with co-workers over time.
- Negotiation : Negotiation is an important future safe skill. Researchers found that nearly 2.8 million job postings are looking for people with good negotiation skills. Although AI can help with research, preparation and collecting information, the study says it may only be able to handle about 47 percent of negotiation work. The rest still depends on human skills and understanding.
- Coaching and mentoring : Coaching and mentoring were also listed among the skills that AI cannot easily replace. These skills are important in areas like leadership, education, sports, and human resources because they require understanding people’s emotions as well as their real life challenges. Researchers explained that mentors often need to understand why someone is struggling whether it is because of lack of knowledge, low confidence, poor motivation, or emotional problems. This kind of human understanding and judgement is still very difficult for AI to copy.
- Public speaking: Public speaking was also considered as future safe skills. The study showed that AI still finds it hard to copy the confidence, personal connection and strong communication that humans bring while speaking in public. Reports show that more than 2.5 million job postings currently ask for communication or public speaking skills. This shows that companies still highly value people who can speak confidently, connect with audiences and influence others in real-time conversations.
Lastly, that technical knowledge is still useful but people who also build strong communication, leadership, empathy, and decision making skills may do better in a future where AI is widely used.
