A company spokesperson said, that Meta has completed the purchase. Meta described the startup as working on advanced robot intelligence that helps robots understand people, predict what they might do, and adjust to changing and complex situations.
The Assured Robot Intelligence team, including co-founders Lerrel Pinto and Xiaolong Wang, will join Meta’s Super-intelligence Labs. They will work closely with Meta’s Robotics Studio, which started last year to build core technology for human-like robots. Meta is making a significant investment into humanoid robots machines that can move like humans and help with physical work. This area is growing fast and big companies like Tesla, Google, and Amazon are also working on it.
Wang who previously worked as a researcher at Nvidia Corporation and Pinto the co-founded Fauna Robotics and left the company in 2025. Later in March, Amazon acquired Fauna to support its own humanoid robot work. At Meta Platforms, the team might bring strong experience in building AI models for robot control, self-learning systems, and full-body humanoid movement.
Meta Platforms, robotics team plans to use technology from this startup in the future. Right now, they are also building their own humanoid robots and the AI systems behind them. This work includes making sensors, software, and other tools that could later be shared with other companies in the industry, so many different robots could use them.
The idea is similar to how Google Android system and Qualcomm chips helped shape the smartphone industry by becoming a base used by many companies. Lastly, Meta also wants to build a similar foundation for the robotics market.
