TakeMe2Space, Indian space tech startup launches AI powered satellite on SpaceX

Indian space startup TakeMe2Space is a Hyderabad based space technology company has successfully launched its MOI-1a satellite on 1 October 2026, on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket as part of the Transporter 18 mission from California. This launch came after 10 months, the company lost its first satellite MOI-1 during an ISRO PSLV mission because of a problem with the rocket’s third stage.

MOI-1a is designed to collect images of Earth and process the data directly in space using AI. Mostly satellites send a large amounts of data to Earth for processing but this satellite can do some of the work in space itself. The 14 kg satellite has 117 TOPS of computing power, 2 TB of storage and a multispectral camera. It can be used for agriculture, mining and supply chain monitoring. TakeMe2Space also plans to launch five satellites that will work together as an orbital data centre. The company wants these satellites to collect, process and store data in space. It also plans to offer data storage in space as an extra backup for important information especially for financial and defence companies.

Ronak Samantray, who is the CEO and founder of TakeMe2Space says that, it makes most of its satellite systems in India but buys some parts, such as chips, solar cells, and propulsion systems from other countries. It plans to build larger satellites from 2027 to increase computing power and reduce costs. The launch of MOI-1a is an important step as TakeMe2Space moves towards offering its technology for commercial use.
