Google Gemini now supports scheduled actions, launches a new Live swipe gesture.

Google was one of the few early companies that jumped on the AI bandwagon, but the tech giant still appears to be playing catch-up with startups like OpenAI. Earlier this year, in January, the Sam Altman-led company launched a new feature that helps users to schedule activities in ChatGPT to run automatic prompts.

Google has revealed that it is introducing "Scheduled Actions" to Gemini. Announced at this year's I/O, Google says that the new feature is "designed to proactively manage your tasks." Like ChatGPT's schedule tasks, users of Gemini can now automate their routine tasks and even receive personalized updates from the AI chatbot.

The technology giant claims users can now ask Gemini to perform actions such as complete a task at a given time, or change the prompt you are already using for an ongoing task. Moreover, Gemini can now give a summary of your calendar, unread emails and fetch information and provide updates on your favourite sports team on the go.

But the scheduled actions feature is limited to users with Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription and eligible Google Workspace business and education plans. Also, It is unclear if Gemini, similar to ChatGPT, has limit in scheduled actions to ten active tasks and if they can pause or remove an old task, if they hit the limit.

Google also stated that Gemini will shortly receive an "upgraded preview" of Gemini 2.5 Pro. The new big language model build on the company's newly launched 2.5 Pro model, which is better than its predecessors, when it comes to coding. The company is also making it easier for users to access Gemini Live. Rather than tapping on the dedicated Gemini Live action from the bottom of the screen, you can now just swipe from the right side of the screen towards the left to launch Gemini Live.
